Katia Rheault, M.Ed., RTC

I am a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor in good standing with the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists of Canada (ACCT). I offer counselling services on line, and in person at my private office in downtown Duncan, BC.

I believe that, just as we can cause harm and perpetuate systemic forms of oppression, each one of us can bring hope, change and healing to our families, workplaces, and the communities we live in. What sparks hope and helps us imagine a different and better future is the ability to see ourselves as capable of overcoming adversity. Every experience of trauma and hardship highlights resilience. Tapping into the inner strength and coping resources that ensure our human survival is the key to transforming pain and loss into growth and a renewed sense of purpose.

Part of my perspective on mental health and well-being is also informed by interconnectedness and the ways in which individuals and groups influence one another. I am conscious of my privilege as a cis-gender heterosexual woman and as a member of a non-visible minority. I hold in awareness how my own experiences emerge in my interactions with clients so the our work together is transformative and empowering.

These are the principles that guide my work.
